Case studies

Work Aaron has led.

A long-running engineering engagement, and a small business website moved off a stack it had outgrown. Each is published with the client's consent.

  • OneWiFi: a visitor engagement platform for a national Wi-Fi network

Client. OneWiFi is an Australian provider of public Wi-Fi, smart city and managed ICT infrastructure for councils, government and property groups.

Engagement. Over a decade, from OneWiFi's early years to the present, now on an ongoing retainer.

Role. Principal Engineer, working with OneWiFi's distributed networking team across Australia and Bangladesh.

The need. Venue operators wanted their public Wi-Fi to do more than provide access. They wanted to engage visitors and learn how their spaces were being used.

The work. Aaron designed and built OneIAP, a standalone platform that sits on top of OneWiFi's network. It handles Wi-Fi sign-in, captures visitor data for venue operators, and lets them promote initiatives to people on the network. He has maintained and extended it through OneWiFi's growth, alongside its network operations.

Outcome. OneIAP runs across hundreds of sites and has served millions of user sessions.

How this applies now. The engagement has scaled up and down with OneWiFi's needs for over ten years. That is the model behind the Anyfront retainer: senior engineering capacity that stays with the product and the business.

  • Velvet Steel: a small business website, moved off a container stack

Client. Velvet Steel Health & Performance is a small business in Sydney offering exercise physiology, strength and mobility coaching, and pole classes.

Engagement. Ongoing since July 2026, when the website moved.

Role. Aaron planned and carried out the move, and handles every change to the site since.

The need. The website, a couple of pages with a booking link and a newsletter sign-up, ran as a full web application on a container stack, with a server behind it to keep running.

The work. Aaron moved the site to a static site served from a CDN, with its content held as structured data rather than written into templates. The design was rebuilt as a theme kept separate from the content, so the look can be redesigned without touching a word of what the site says. A staging copy was compared with the live site before the switch, addresses search engines already knew, such as the contact page, kept working, and the business's email was untouched throughout.

Changes. Velvet Steel asks for changes in plain language. AI drafts each change, the owner previews it and says yes, and Aaron publishes it. Prices are recalculated by code, never by the AI, and every version of the site is kept, so any change can be undone.

Outcome. velvetsteel.com.au has run as a static site since July 2026, and the old container stack has been shut down.

How this applies now. It is the pattern behind Anyfront's modernisation work: move off what an app has outgrown in steps that can be undone, keep the addresses and the email that already work, and leave the business a reviewed way to change it.
